PhotoCraft & open creative software guide
PhotoCraft, Explained.
Independent guides, release information, compatibility notes, and honest comparisons for PhotoCraft and open-source creative software.
Independent. Source-backed. Clear about what is untested.
What is PhotoCraft?
PhotoCraft is an open-source image editor written in Rust, with documented tools for layers, masks, text, brushes and PSD files.
It is one of the Crafting Apps presented by ArtCraft. ArtCraft’s AI image and video studio is a separate product, not another name for this editor.
The project describes itself as early alpha. Full Photoshop replacement is not established. Evaluate a copy of your own files before changing a production workflow.

A few questions, answered.
The essentials before you try a new editor.
Is PhotoCraft free and open source?
Its repository states MIT OR Apache-2.0 licensing for the code. Bundled assets and branding can have separate terms. Use the official repository to check those conditions.
Is PhotoCraft the same as ArtCraft?
No. PhotoCraft is an image editor in the Crafting Apps family. ArtCraft also describes a separate AI image and video studio. Confirm the product and repository before following instructions.
Can I use it instead of Photoshop?
An individual task may work, but a complete replacement is not established. Official documentation describes an early alpha. Keep originals and evaluate your own workflow first.
Will my Photoshop files work?
Opening and saving PSD and PSB files are documented. Full fidelity for every layer, effect and font is not independently verified. Test a duplicate and reopen it in the software used for delivery.
Where should I download PhotoCraft?
